Description: “Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

Panic_HC_JKT_des4.inddThis week’s selection: Panic by Lauren Oliver

Release date: March 4th 2014

Synopsis (from Goodreads):

Panic began as so many things do in Carp, a dead-end town of 12,000 people in the middle of nowhere: because it was summer, and there was nothing else to do.

Heather never thought she would compete in Panic, a legendary game played by graduating seniors, where the stakes are high and the payoff is even higher. She’d never thought of herself as fearless, the kind of person who would fight to stand out. But when she finds something, and someone, to fight for, she will discover that she is braver than she ever thought.

Dodge has never been afraid of Panic. His secret will fuel him, and get him all the way through the game, he’s sure of it. But what he doesn’t know is that he’s not the only one with a secret. Everyone has something to play for.

For Heather and Dodge, the game will bring new alliances, unexpected revelations, and the possibility of first love for each of them—and the knowledge that sometimes the very things we fear are those we need the most.

Why did I choose this?

I’m one of those people who still hasn’t gotten around to the Delirium trilogy (and I keep hearing so many disappointing things about the last book, I’m not sure I ever will) but I loved Lauren Oliver’s debut, Before I fall and this blurb has so much potential, too. Plus a main character, whose name is Dodge??? This I have to read. Only one week to go! 🙂

  1. I have been looking forward to this one too! I loved Before I Fall and The Delirium series is on my TBR List, so I am excited to see what Lauren Oliver has to offer with Panic 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

  3. I’m one of those people who haven’t read them yet, either. I finished Panic a few weeks ago, and while I did enjoy it, it just lacked something for me. Hope you enjoy it more than I did! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by mine earlier.

  4. This was my pick last week. I loved the Delirium series, her writing is just awesome. Can’t wait to read more. Great pick.
Thanks for stopping by my WOW.
